Our accessibility commitment

NDIS capacity building and daily living skills blog banner

Specialised Living is committed to providing information, communication and services that are accessible and inclusive. We want people with disability, families, carers, advocates and community members to be able to find information, contact us and understand their options as independently as possible.

We recognise that accessibility needs are different for each person. We aim to remove barriers, offer reasonable adjustments and communicate in ways that respect each person’s preferences, abilities, culture and circumstances.

Website accessibility

We aim to design and maintain this website in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA where reasonably practicable. Our accessibility work includes aiming to provide:

  • clear headings and a logical page structure
  • plain, understandable language
  • sufficient colour contrast and readable text
  • keyboard access to navigation, links, buttons and forms
  • meaningful alternative text for informative images
  • descriptive links and clearly labelled form fields
  • mobile-responsive pages that can be enlarged without losing information
  • captions or transcripts for important audio and video content where applicable.

Communication and accessible formats

You can tell us how you prefer to communicate. Depending on your needs and the information requested, we can work with you to provide information in another format or through another communication method. This may include plain language, larger text, reading information aloud, email, telephone, support from an interpreter or assistance from a nominee, advocate, family member or trusted person.

If you need an adjustment to access our services or communicate with us, please tell us. We will discuss what would help and make reasonable adjustments wherever possible.

Known limitations and continuous improvement

Although we work to make our website accessible, some content, documents or third-party tools may not yet meet every accessibility requirement. We regularly review the website and aim to address identified barriers in a practical and timely way.

If you cannot access information, encounter a barrier or have an idea for improvement, please contact us. Tell us the page or feature involved, the problem you experienced, the device or browser you were using if known, and the format or adjustment that would help. You do not need to provide technical details if you do not know them.

We will treat accessibility feedback respectfully and use it to improve our website, information and services.
